How to Book:

FOR SATURDAYS & SUNDAYS, make sure you've selected the correct time slot since we have two classes on Saturdays.

Are there two tickets available if the drop down is showing 1 available for Quick Finish and 1 for Studio Finish?

No. This means there is one ticket left, but two options for your rug finish. Each drop down menu represents total available tickets, not combined. If ”Tuft It Today Class with Quick Finish” shows 2 available tickets and “Tuft It Today Class with Studio Finish” shows 2 available tickets, there are only 2 seats left for that evening. Choosing 2 Quick Finish tickets and 2 Studio Finish tickets will cause us to be overbooked resulting in a need to reschedule or cancel.

What do I need to fill out?

Please fill out the information for yourself or the main point person including name, email and phone in case we need to communicate anything.

You can fill out the rest of the info for your guests OR skip that step but you must transfer their tickets after checkout so that they can fill in their own information.

Do you have an age limit?

We prefer a "maturity minimum" and leave it to parents to make the decision for their child. A ticket must be purchased for everyone over the age of 12. Parents must also take into consideration the machines do get a bit heavy for younger/smaller people and there are lots of sharp objects like exposed tacks on the tufting frames and the machine itself is a high-powered tool with a needle and sharp scissors at the end. It is also required there be a parent or guardian present for each person 12 and under and at least one per two children 13-17. That said, quite a few kids as young as 10 have worked on a project themselves and even younger worked successfully with their adult of choice!

About the Class:

This is a 3.5 hour rug tufting session where you will learn the basics of rug tufting and create a 22 inch rug to take home to hang or admire from above.

Afternoons:

  • Doors Open @ 11:45 AM
  • Class Begins promptly @ 12:00 PM
  • Anyone arriving after we have started may not be granted entry and will need to reschedule or cancel (Please see our Rescheduling, Cancellations & Refunds Policy below)

Evenings:

  • Doors Open @ 5:45 PM
  • Class Begins promptly @ 6:00 PM
  • Anyone arriving after we have started may not be granted entry and will need to reschedule or cancel (Please see our Rescheduling, Cancellations & Refunds Policy below)

During this class, Tufters will:

  • Prepare an image using projection-transfer
  • Receive an overview of machine tufting and techniques
  • Gain some practice time with the machines and supplies before working on their projects
  • Receive one-on-one and global feedback with hands-on help
  • Receive an overview of finishing for wall-hanging or floor applications, including pile height-leveling and adding backing
  • Quick-finish their rug to hang or admire from the floor
  • Leave with a new experience and a quick-finished 22 inch rug

Preparing for the Session:

  • Please prepare to arrive 15 minutes before the beginning of class. We begin class and instruction at the time listed on your ticket. Anyone arriving once we've started may not be granted entry and will be required to reschedule (additional fees apply) or forfeit the ticket cost.
  • Upload your image as soon as possible
  • Images should be simple in design so there is more fun than stress.
  • Please avoid:
    • Complicated color gradients or textures (tufting works best in high contrast)
    • Lettering, fine line details, or lots of line work (these tend to blend together, and you'll end up using a lot of time filling in the space around these with other colors)
    • Using all the colors of the rainbow (you'll be sharing yarn so this might stall your work). We suggest 4-5 colors or less.

Finish Options for Tuft It Today Workshops & Afternoon Sessions:

  • Quick Finish - (Included) This finish sets us apart and allows you to take your rug home the day you finish! We recommend this for wall-hangings, corner rugs, under-furniture rugs, probably not for the highest traffic areas. Though very durable, the Quick Finish isn't "locked in" like our Studio Finish.
  • Studio Pro Finish Package -This finish will make your rug look, feel, perform, and last like a rug you'd buy yourself. We use a synthetic latex adhesive to lock in your fibers. This creates a super durable rug and adds a nice weight to the whole thing. Once this adhesive cures, we add the backing, machine-level the top, then skillfully hand-shave and hand-trim the edges with great care. We work on each rug for about 2 hours to make sure they are finished to our highest standards. (NOTE: Processing time for our Studio Finish varies and can take about 2-6 weeks and occasionally, additional time may be necessary.)
